Dr. Rachel Levy was made a Fellow of the Association of Women of Mathematics along with Dr. Rebecca Segal, Department Head at Virginia Commonwealth University. Both were PhD advisees of Dr. Michael Shearer at NC State.

She was chosen as a 2026 Fellow for her exceptional leadership and her contributions to knowledge, education, mentorship, communication, programs, professional development, and policy advocacy to broaden the appreciation of and participation in the mathematical sciences.

The AWM Fellows program to recognize members who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the support and advancement of women in the mathematical sciences, consistent with the AWM mission: “to create a community in which women and girls can thrive in their mathematical endeavors, and to promote equitable opportunity and treatment of women and others of marginalized genders and gender identities across the mathematical sciences.”
