Professor Nicholas Rose turns 100

Professor Nicholas J. Rose came to NC State as head of the Mathematics Department in 1968 and served in that capacity until 1977. He then returned to full time teaching and research until his retirement in 1989. He taught part-time as Emeritus Professor until 2002. During his tenure as Head, the department was continuing to change from mostly a service department to a full-fledged modern research and teaching department. Twenty six tenure-track faculty were added to the department during this time. Most of these remained at state for the rest of the careers.
