Professor Nicholas Rose turns 100

Professor Nicholas J. Rose came to NC State as head of the Mathematics Department in 1968 and served in that capacity until 1977. He then returned to full time teaching and research until his retirement in 1989. He taught part-time as Emeritus Professor until 2002. During his tenure as Head, the department was continuing to change from mostly a service department to a full-fledged modern research and teaching department. Twenty six tenure-track faculty were added to the department during this time. Most of these remained at state for the rest of the careers.

Caribbean American Heritage Month

June is Caribbean American Heritage Month, during this time, we celebrate the rich cultural contributions and achievements of Caribbean Americans to American society. This observance recognizes the diverse Caribbean cultures, traditions, music, literature, cuisine, and history that have significantly influenced the fabric of the United States.

NC State Math PhDs Most Awarded

NC State awarded the most math and statistics PhDs in the US in 2021-22, about 5% of the total US production.

NC State ranked 2 in U.S. for funded research

NCSU is ranked number 2 in the US for federally funded research expenditures in Mathematics and Statistics according to the NSF HERD rankings.

Ranked #18 in Nation

U.S. News and World Report ranked our Applied Math Graduate Program in the top 20 in its latest rankings of Graduate Programs.
