Carolina Analytics and Data Science from UNC Chapel-Hill will be hosting a data competition, where there will be multiple datasets that groups of students can work on, similar to DataFest. I would greatly appreciate it if you could pass this information below along to your students in the math department:
Carolina Data Challenge is a data science competition for students to solve real world problems using data science techniques and tools outside the classroom. Participants will have the opportunity to analyze real datasets provided by sponsors and have a chance to compete for awards based on predictive models, visualizations, valuable insights, etc. Carolina Data Challenge will be held September 16-17th at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Apply at this link by September 7th, 2017 for full consideration. This challenge is open to graduate and undergraduate students.
