Why your students should study Data Science and Public Policy at Georgetown

Applications are now open for our new Master of Science in Data Science for Public Policy (MS-DSPP) program! The Priority Deadline for scholarship consideration is January 15.
In governments and the nonprofit sector, demand is rising quickly for data analysts, scientists, and data savvy managers.
The Master of Science in Data Science for Public Policy (MSDSPP) program combines the cutting-edge computational, mathematical and statistical methods training of Georgetown’s Graduate Analytics Program with the historic policy analysis strengths of Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy.
Oriented towards public service and civic engagement, but relevant in the private and nonprofit sectors, graduates of the MSDSPP program will not only be trained in the tools of data science and quantitative public policy analysis, but also in communicating their solutions effectively in the policy world.
Our rigorous quantitative-focused curriculum sets our graduates apart from their peers on day one. McCourt graduates thrive in the public, private, nonprofit, and multilateral sectors. For the classes of 2013 through 2015, 91% of our graduates were employed or furthering their education six months after graduation.
Quick Facts:
  • The MSDSPP is a full-time, 14-course program and can be completed in two years.
  • The program provides a unique curriculum at the intersection of data science and quantitative public policy analysis, equipping graduates with cutting-edge computational, analytical, and governance skills.
  • An advanced degree for college graduates and professionals with some background in statistics, economics, mathematics, or computer science.
The demand for these jobs in the US and around the world is increasing quickly, and there’s no better place to learn these skills than in Washington, DC – the center of the policy world.
