Vinzant Wins CAREER Award

Mathematics Assistant Professor Cynthis Vinzant has been awarded a prestigious NSF CAREER award. The project, “Determinantal, hyperbolic, and log-concave polynomials in theory and applications,” aims to use real algebraic and discrete geometry to further develop our understanding of hyperbolic polynomials, and more generally, log-concave polynomials, with a view towards applications in approximation algorithms, combinatorics, convex optimization, and operator theory. Other recent CAREER recipients are Arvind Saibaba, David Papp, Lorena Bociu, Seth Sullivant, and Agnes Szanto.
