Undergraduate students from all public and private institutions in North Carolina are invited
to submit abstracts based on original research and creative projects.

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AWARD
Dr. George T. Barthalmus was the driving force behind the creation of the State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium [SNCURCS]. He had a passion for encouraging undergraduates to pursue their interests through the process of research, be it in the sciences, humanities, or through artistic expression. He was an advocate for early involvement of students in the research process as a way to engage and retain students in academics. To this end, the George Barthalmus
Proposals will be reviewed by faculty familiar with the field of study (discipline), and recommendations for funding will be considered by a committee appointed by the SNCURCS advisory board. Students will be notified approximately 1 week prior to the fall symposium, and awards will be presented at the fall symposium.
Awards will be made to current sophomores only.
All award winners are expected to participate in SNCURCS in the fall 2021.
The maximum award is $500.
