STRIVE for MORE 2021 undergraduate workshop

Applications are invited for the upcoming STRIVE for MORE undergraduate workshop, to be held via zoom on September 25, 2021. Please share this announcement and the attached flyer with your students and colleagues. More information, including how to apply, can be found on the conference website: https://www.math.vt.edu/MORE2021.

STRIVE for MORE (Success Through Rewarding, Inclusive Virtual Experiences for Mathematics: Opportunities in Research and Education) is a virtual workshop to engage undergraduate students in highly relevant mathematics tied to applications that address societal needs and encourage them to consider graduate studies and careers in mathematics. Participants will learn about cutting edge research from a leading mathematician, engage in discussions with graduate students, and participate in panel discussions on research, summer opportunities and the pathway to mathematical careers. This workshop series is a cooperative effort between Clemson University and Virginia Tech, funded by NSF. It follows the successful on-campus MORE workshop at Virginia Tech in 2019 and online STRIVE for MORE workshop in 2020. An in-person MORE workshop is planned for 2022.

Applications from students who are currently undergraduates majoring in mathematics or a closely related discipline or those students who are considering such a major are welcome. MORE specifically targets and prioritizes the participation of female, minority, and/or first-generation college students. First-generation college students and students from underrepresented groups in mathematics are especially encouraged to apply.
