Why Mason?

We are a moderately sized department with a wide array of research in both pure and applied mathematics.  Our PhD students are successful in finding employment — of our graduated PhD students roughly half are employed in academic positions and half are employed in industry/government positions which are abundant in DC area.  We are invested in success of our students — we have an active mentoring program and this summer we are piloting a preparatory PhD Launchpad program for incoming students. We deeply care about diversity and inclusion.

We no longer require the GRE for admissions and primarily evaluate candidates based upon undergraduate coursework (including grades), and letters of recommendation.
