MCM: The Mathematical Contest in Modeling & ICM: The Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling

Are you interested in solving real world problems using math and computation? If so, please consider taking part in the Mathematical/Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM)!https://www.comap.com/undergraduate/contests/mcm/

MCM/ICM is a competition where teams of three undergraduate students create, analyze, and write a report on a mathematical model for an open-ended real-world problem. This year, the contest takes place on February 17th-21st, 2022. The contest is international, with more than 20,000 teams from all over the world competing every year (however, no travel is required). Students often report mentioning their contest experience in job interviews and grad school applications.
In past years, NCSU teams have done very well in the contest with a 2017 team being designated an “Outstanding Winner”.  Teams typically consist of 2-3 students.
Please contact Professor Ralph Smith (rsmith@ncsu.edu) if you are interested in participating as a team in this context.”
