NEW! Summer Session II 2025: South Korea – Science and Culture
The South Korea – Science and Culture program will provide students the opportunity to earn 5-7 credit hours by taking a range of courses through Hanyang University. Over 60 courses have been approved as transfer credit, including a range of STEM courses that are difficult to find in other study abroad programs.
This new program is open to all NC State students. All students will have the opportunity to take a special HON seminar taught by Dr. Sue Carson that will focus on disease outbreaks in Korea and the East Asian region. This course will satisfy 3 credit hours of both GK and IP GEP requirements

- Program dates: June 24-July 27
- Live in the heart of Seoul, a city that is so modern on the one hand it is called the Bandwidth Capital of the World, with free Wi-Fi throughout the city, the highest fiber-optic broadband penetration and fastest internet speeds in the world and, on the other, a 2000 year old city with five distinct UNESCO World Heritage sites to explore, juxtaposed with the 1821 ft tall Lotte World Tower, the 6th tallest building in the world.
- A broad selection of STEM courses offered by Korea’s first Engineering school, Hanyang University, as well as an incredible selection of Korean culture courses. Nearly 80 courses to choose from in total.
- HON seminar offered (HON 312: Outbreak with NC State professor Dr. Sue Carson)
- Overnight trip to Seoraksan National Park and the beautiful East Coast of Korea.
- 3 night trip to Busan, home to Haeundae Beach, Gamcheon Culture Village and the Songdo Cable Car, and Gyeongju, for 1000 years the capital of two successive dynasties over a 1000 years ago and now known as “the museum without walls” because of the incredible number of cultural and historical sites throughout the city.
