Duke Math DEI Colloquium

Duke Math will soon be welcoming Dr. Pamela Harris, Professor of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, who will be giving the Duke Math DEI Fall Colloquium on Thursday, December 5th at 5pm in Physics 128. They will host a special reception following Dr. Harris’ Colloquium at 6pm in the Math Lounge (Physics 101).

Dr. Harris is a Mexican-American mathematician specializing in algebraic combinatorics. She is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society and of the Association for Women in Mathematics. She has earned numerous awards, including the 2022 MAA Deborah and Franklin Tepper Haimo Award. Dr. Harris has mentored over 120 undergraduate students, particularly from historically-excluded groups, and facilitated many undergraduate research programs. She serves as President of Lathisms, co-hosts the podcast Mathematically Uncensored, and has co-authored books on advocating for students of color in mathematics.
