OURFA²M²: Empowering Underrepresented Undergraduate Math Students

The 5th annual Online Undergraduate Resource Fair for the Advancement and Alliance of Marginalized Mathematicians (OURFA²M²) is on February 8th and 9th, 2025, from 10am to 6pm Central Time on zoom. This free event is designed by and for underrepresented undergraduate math students, aiming to share career-building resources with those who might otherwise slip through the cracks of the educational pipeline. In cooperation with the MAA, and supported by NSF grant DUE-2438032, we gather 35 speakers and hundreds of students from across the country every year.

Event Highlights:

  • Crash Courses: Engaging overviews of advanced research topics to guide students through the math world.
  • Our Stories: Inspiring journeys from mathematicians who share their unique experiences and challenges and how they choose to spend their time and energy.
  • Q&A Panels: Interactive discussions with peers and leaders of math organizations.
  • Networking Lunches: Opportunities to connect with peers and professionals, expanding networks and fostering mentorship.
  • Allyship Workshops for Faculty: Interactive discussions with expert advocates to learn how to understand and support marginalized students.

This conference is for:

  • Undergraduate students at all levels, from students taking pre-calculus to upperclassmen.
  • Students who want to learn about career-building opportunities and how to become a competitive applicant.
  • Students who want to connect with peers and potential mentors.
  • Faculty who want to strengthen their ability to understand and support their marginalized students and colleagues.
