Summer Researcher: County Probate Record

Students walk across the Oval on Centennial Campus

A PhD student in real estate finance at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business is conducting research on intergenerational wealth and economic inequality in the United States. The project builds a dataset of estate administration records from North Carolina courts. Records from 2023 onward are available online, but older case files exist only on paper at county courthouses and must be digitized in person. The work is largely independent, with periodic check-ins by email or video call. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the position has been filled.
