College Students: Apply Now for the 2025 ROOT Program, a Paid Summer Opportunity at MoMath!

Are you an undergraduate math major looking to spend a fun summer in New York City while honing your communication and math outreach skills and gaining workplace experience?

This summer, MoMath looks forward to welcoming a new cohort of participants to the 2025 ROOT (Real Operational Outreach Training) program, a paid summer opportunity for undergraduate students who love math.  As a MoMath ROOT participant, you’ll join a dynamic group of other emerging young STEM professionals working to change public perceptions of mathematics at the nation’s premier museum of mathematics.

A limited number of students from around the country will be accepted for this highly selective summer opportunity to work at MoMath, where they will: serve as exhibit interpreters and docents in the Museum; assist with special events, hands-on activities, outdoor demonstrations, and other ways as needed to engage with the general public; build outreach and communication skills; enhance their mathematical knowledge; meet mathematicians from around the world; gain exposure to a variety of interesting programs, lectures, and people; and be part of a motivated and talented cohort.

Applications will be accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis.  The application deadline is May 7, 2025; however, the application window may close prior to that time if the program fills.

P.S.  The ROOT program is for current college students who will have completed at least one year of college this spring and will be returning to an undergraduate program after the summer.  Are you a math major graduating this spring?  If so, you’re eligible to apply for the Exponent Fellowship, but send in your application soon; only a few spots remain!
