We are proud to announce that Deidre Hartley has been selected as one of twelve recipients of the 2025 University Awards for Excellence, the institution’s highest honor for non-faculty employees. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions beyond their regular job responsibilities.
Chancellor Kevin Howell presented the award to Deidre, with Associate Dean Lex Kempering representing our Dean during the ceremony. The University Awards for Excellence honor outstanding achievements in areas such as customer service. efficiency and innovation, human relations, outstanding state government service, public service, safety and heroism and the Spirit of North Carolina.
Deidre was recognized for her exceptional public service, a category that highlights individuals who have made significant contributions through volunteerism or community service projects. Her dedication to serving others has had a profound impact on the university and the broader community.
As a university-level honoree, Deidre is now under consideration for the Governor’s Award, which is the highest distinction an employee can receive. This nomination emphasizes her exemplary service and commitment to making a positive difference.
