State of the Sciences: Live!

At State of the Sciences: Live! at Hunt Library in April, Associate Professor Lorena Bociu, Assistant Professor Khai Nguyen, and graduate students Lucas Castle,  Amanda Laubmeier, Nick Myers, Marcella Noorman, and Michael Ruddy ran “Math Doesn’t Bug Me”, an insect-themed education program which explored ideas from combinatorics, cryptography, and topology.

Matthew Simpson Receives Awards in Scholarship

Math major Matthew Simpson is the winner of the Senior Award in Scholarship for the Department of Mathematics and the Outstanding Senior Award in Scholarship for the College of Sciences. The awards recognize his scholarly achievements in and out of the classroom.

Maltbie Award Recipients

Congratulations to Elyse Rogers and Michael Ruddy (Department of Mathematics), who are both the recipients of the Maltbie Award this year. The award was established in 1979 by Professor and Mrs. Maltbie to be given to graduate Teaching Assistants who have excelled in teaching.

Applications for summer 2019 are now open for the Directors Summer Program, Cryptanalysis and Signals Analysis Summer Program, and Graduate Mathematics Program. These 12 week paid internships provide students with the opportunity to work directly with NSA Mathematicians on mission-critical problems and experience the excitement of the NSA mathematics community.

Sergio Chavez wins Senior Award in Research in Math

Math major Sergio Chavez was selected as the winner of the Senior Award in Research for the Department of Mathematics due to his significant research contributions to the field of mathematics. He will be honored at the COS Senior Recognition Event on Wednesday, April 25. Congratulations!
