Department of Mathematics Calendar
We hope this email finds you well. Given the uniqueness of this academic year, the Triangle Area Graduate Mathematics Conference (TAGMaC) will be happening differently than usual. We’d like to share some initial details about TAGMaC and invite you to register early.
There will only be one meeting of TAGMaC this academic year. It is being organized jointly by the AMS Graduate Student Chapters of NC State and UNC, and it will be held via Zoom. The dates for the conference are December 8,9, and 10 (T-Th). Each day’s events will tentatively run from 10:00am to 3:00pm (Eastern), with scheduled breaks. There will be two invited speakers, a panel session, and parallel sessions showcasing you and your colleagues’ research.
This is an excellent opportunity to practice presenting your research (especially for JMM) or to see what research your fellow graduate students are doing in and around the Triangle Area!
In addition to mathematical research presentations, this year we are also accepting pedagogical and/or professional development talks. If you have implemented a novel teaching technique effectively, successfully applied for internships or fellowships, etc., and want to share your expertise with your fellow mathematicians, you are welcome to sign up to give one of these talks.
For those who plan to present, your talk should be about 20 minutes long – we will allot additional time at the end for questions. Please submit the title for your talk when you register, as well as the abstract, if it’s complete (you can add it later if it’s not complete yet).
The deadline for submitting abstracts is November 13.
If you are interested in attending and/or presenting, please register as soon as possible using this google form so that we can coordinate Zoom meetings to meet capacity.
