It has been another hard fought semester. Hopefully, everyone is enjoying time to relax, reconnect, and recharge. If you feel the urge in your downtime, this can be a good time to sharpen your resume, cover letter, and internship/job search strategy without the typical pressures of the semester.

Quick Help if For Sharpening Your Internship/Job Search

– Browse through the campus career guide or take a look at additional resume examples
– Give the Career Identity Program a look to help better answer the question, “What do I really want to do after I finish my degree?”
Take the Focus 2 career assessment to see how your interests and personality align with certain paths and industry using
data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics
– Listen to one of the Pack Career Chats podcast episodes.

Some Strong Opportunities to Explore“The Office of Science Education and Diversity (OSED) at NIEHS/NIH has an academic-year (3 semesters/Summer, Fall, and Spring) paid internship for undergraduate students. The NIEHS Scholars Connect Program (NSCP) is designed for undergraduate junior and seniorSTEM majors. Summer stipend: $2540 (junior)/ $2670 (senior) per month.” More info and application details are listed on the website

“The Underrepresented Student Internship Program provides the opportunity for undergraduate students to receive mentorship and training from NIH Human Biomolecular Atlas Program (HuBMAP) labs over the summer. Apply for an immersive research experience at one of our HuBMAP labs working at the cutting edge of single cell biology on experimental or computational projects and gain valuable research experience. This program is ideal for students in STEM fields, especially those interested in biology, data science, and medicine. Accepted students will receive a stipend of $6,000. UNC System Presidential Scholars Program“Created under the leadership of President Emeritus Erksine Bowles in 2006, over 30 scholars have come through the program and gone on to enroll in top-ranked graduate programs and launch careers as the leaders of tomorrow. Today, scholars rotate through a variety of cross-functional teams to serve and support the work of the System’s institutions and affiliates. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the 10-week paid summer research internship provides students with:
– One-on-one mentoring from leading scientists
– Participation in a unique, multidisciplinary research approach
– Hands-on research experience
