In recent years, Sandia National Laboratories has been accelerating research investments in data science and analytics. This change was motivated by a need for timely decisions about the state of the world in the context of increasingly large and diverse varieties of data. Data-centric challenges often cross discipline boundaries. To address these challenges, our group at Sandia collaborates across the Laboratories and with academia on text analytics, social and behavioral analytics, cyber network analytics and geospatial analytics. We will focus this talk on questions posed by geospatial analysis to emphasize how our team is rethinking geographical information systems analysis, enabling new data query capabilities and the discovery of previously hidden patterns. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.

Bio:

Dr. Kristina Czuchlewski is the Manager of Mission Analytics Solutions II at Sandia National Laboratories. She leads a team of computer scientists, machine learning experts, applied mathematicians, systems engineers and statisticians. She holds a BSE in Civil Engineering from Princeton University and Ph.D. from Columbia University in Earth and Environmental Sciences (Seismology, Remote Sensing and Tectonophysics). She joined Sandia National Laboratories in 2008 as a systems engineering technical staff member. From 2013-15, Kristina was the PI for PANTHER, a Grand Challenge LDRD, which brought together a large and diverse team of researchers focused on scalable, temporal and geospatial relationship discovery for robust, national security mission- relevant pattern analysis.
