Office of Undergraduate Research Announcements and Updates (1/6/2023)

Below are some (abridged) announcements, reminders, and deadlines that the OUR would like to share as you transition back to campus. 

We welcome students and faculty/staff to meet with (or email) OURstaff and student ambassadors with research-related questions or concerns! 

OUR Events and Reminders

  • The ACC Meeting of the Minds conference will be hosted by VA Tech on March 24-26, 2023. This conference is a wonderful and competitive opportunity to present your research. NC State will take a select number of students. Undergraduate researchers from any discipline are encouraged to apply, and must submit a faculty letter of support, an abstract for the work, a resume, and an application.   • Spring 23 OUR seminars have been posted; review descriptions and register with this link! We will provide numerous sessions on research-related topics for those meeting requirements or those curious about a variety of research topics – all are welcome!   
  • The FWS Research Assistant position application for Spring will be open through January 20. You can review requirements, information, and apply on the FWS OUR RA page. You must fully complete the application (through the resume question) to be considered.

Other Events and Reminders

  • Interested in a summer research opportunity? Check out the current list of NC State programs and/or other university/foundation programs
  • Crowd the Tap has a paid research internship opportunity. Find out more information here and apply by January 13.
  • Student technicians are sought for a (paid) position to complete phone-based surveys about Chronic Wasting Disease wildlife assessment (CNR). Email Catherine Lerose (cslerose@ncsu.edu) or Hannah Desrochers (hdesroc@ncsu.edu) if interested.
  • The Black Research Symposium will be held March 23-25. Submit your work through January 20 (read requirements/info here and submit here).
