Three Minute Thesis
Join the Graduate School for the 4th annual Three Minute Thesis on October 30, 2018. Ten finalists will have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis topic and its significance. 3MT® develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
Auditing Classes
There are been recent changes regarding audits at the graduate level. To register as "audit" for a given graduate class, students now need to fill this form.
14th Annual UNCG RMSC Conference Saturday, November 3, 2018
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro will host the 14th Annual UNCG Regional Mathematics and Statistics Conference on Saturday, November 3, 2018. We would like to invite your undergraduate and graduate students to come and share their research experience with students from other regional institutions.
Maltbie Award Recipients
Congratulations to Elyse Rogers and Michael Ruddy (Department of Mathematics), who are both the recipients of the Maltbie Award this year. The award was established in 1979 by Professor and Mrs. Maltbie to be given to graduate Teaching Assistants who have excelled in teaching.
Winton-Rose Award Recipients
Daniel Bernstein and Joey Hart (Department of Mathematics) are the recipients of the Winton-Rose Award this year. The award recognizes excellence in research and was established in 1987 by Professors Rose and Winton.
Colebank and Wolfkill receive the H.T. Banks Award
Mitchel Colebank and Karlan Wolfkill are the first recipients of the H.T. Banks Awards. The awards reward outstanding graduate students who are associated with the Center for Research in Scientific Computing (CRSC).

Academic Packways
The application deadline for the summer 2018 Academic Packways program is April 2. This 2-day program (May 17 and 18) is a professional development program for NC State postdocs and late-stage PhD candidates interested in pursuing a faculty career.

recruitment for the 2018 Nonlinear Mechanics and Dynamics (NOMAD) Research Institute is now underway. We are currently seeking highly qualified graduate students interested in participating in our seven-week long program to work on one of six technical projects. Undergraduate level students with the right experience and skill set may also be considered.
